อุปกรณ์ Auto Tool Setter เป็นตัวช่วยให้การตั้งชิ้นงานแกน Z ง่ายขึ้น โดยเครื่องซีเอ็นซีจะทำการเคลื่อนที่เข้ามาหาตำแหน่งเริ่มต้นของศูนย์ชิ้นงานในแนวการ Z แบบอัตโนมัติ ทำให้ผู้ใช้งานไม่ต้องเล็งการตั้งศูนย์ด้วยสายตา ซึ่งมีโอกาสจะเกิดความผิดพลาดในการตั้งชิ้นงานได้

การทำงานของอุปกรณ์ชิ้นนี้มีจะสายสัญญาณให้ผู้ใช้งานไปประกอบเข้ากับระบบคอนโทรลเลอร์ของเครื่องซีเอ็นซี โดยสายสัญญาณที่ส่งไปนั้นมีทั้งแบบหน้าคอนแทค NO และ  NC ทำให้ผู้ใช้งานสะดวกในการนำไปใช้กับซีเอ็นซีคอนโทรลเลอร์ได้ทุกชนิด
